Purpose:Many race cars feature a mono wiper, the only drawback is that the BMW wiper mechanisme is different in most BMWs. Even the E28 and E24 have different wiper assemblies.
E24 Procedure:The basic procedure is to keep the center hole for the wiper arm and cut the other arm, leaving room for a kill switch for example.
To have a complete sweap, the wiper motor tab must be modified, the cleanest way to do it is to relocate the pin on the motor tab.
The pin can be punched out easilly.
The critical distance between both holes is: 1 1/16" center to center (the new hole location is 0.4" closer to the motor).
Then you punch the pin back into the new hole you have made. I cut the tab shorter to make it cleaner.
Another thing needs to be done: shortening the wiper arm.
I bent slighly the passenger wiper linkage to bring it in front of the wiper motor. I cut the arm and the two pieces side by side wo the distance from the two holes is 16 3/8". This won't give you a 100% sweap of the windshield, you might want to add a little lengh.
I then bent my wiper arm the opposite way so the wiper rests flat on the driver side for better sweap. I am using the passenger wiper arm. I am really happy with this mod.
